It is with great sorrow and sad regrets that the Family Lacourcière announce the passing of a beloved brother on Tuesday, February the 8th, at 80 years of age, of which 50 years of his life were in the priesthood, serving the Roman Catholic Church. Monseigneur Eugène was an Honorary Member of the Lacours/cière Society.
Son of the late Léo Lacourcière and the late Marie-Jeanne (née Lamarche) Lacourcière. Beloved brother of Germaine Charles (Ernest), Hermes (late Alice), Anita Lacourcière, Marie-Berthe Leblanc (late Lucien), and Gisèle Durocher (late Claude). Predeceased by his brothers Eddie (late Florence) Rita, Lucien (late Esther) Jean (Georgette), Raymond (Donna) and by sister Laurette Garber (Reginald). He will forever be remembered and loved. by all his nieces and nephews.
Monseigneur Eugène was ordained to the holy priesthood April 30th 1960, by Monseigneur Alexander Carter. For many years Monseigneur faithfully served many parishes of the diocese of Sault-Ste-Marie and as recently as Christmas Eve 2010, he celebrated three masses in three parishes. Also Monseigneur was the celebrant of our Sunday mass at the Lacours/cière Grotto in Batiscan in 2005 when the Lacours/cière Society members held their 5th annual reunion in the province of Quebec the land of our forefathers. His death is a great loss to the many who knew him for his great amiability and his good nature. He was always ready to serve his fellowmen.
Visitation was at the Sacred Heart Church, Sturgeon Falls, Sunday February 13th and Monday February 14th. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am..
